Weekly Notes 20 July 2014 – What A Night At Mrs B’s Boy’s

* Saturday was one of those great days around The Town. The Horse Show in The Park, The Soma Festival and in our own Club Mrs B’s Boys’. Unlike Garth Brooks our final production of Mrs B’s Boys made it to the stage at the weekend. It wasn’t without its hitches. The cast and production crew were making excessive demands of the organising committee and after protracted negotiation, it was agreed that they only do the Saturday Night show. As you know we were scheduled to have a show on Friday night but unfortunately it was cancelled due to “technical difficulties”. All the diva(ish) demands of the cast were met on Saturday night. It was impossible to get a license to satisfy those Friday demands. The cast issued a statement saying “it was either two nights or none” they felt they were being forced to choose between Audiences (nah ye weren’t!)! Local resident Dan Morgan said he was disappointed with this and had cancelled the start of his holiday to be there on Friday Night! I suppose Dan you got to the Saturday show and you can thank god for your unanswered prayer for Friday night! Personally I was glad I didn’t know the way it all would end! All the Cast made it for the Saturday Night show and what a show they put on. If you weren’t there then you missed an absolute cracker. The feedback from the show was very positive. Our new sound and lighting system fitted inside the club got its first outing. It complemented the show really well. It leaves us in fine fettle for future productions! Well done to Lorna, Declan, Gavin, Betty, Harry, Moira, Cillian, lovely Rory (yes lovely Rory!), Claire, Kevin and Barney for the time and effort you put in. Let’s not forget the support crew of Ronan King and Kevan Owens who put in the hours along with their technical genius to help make the fantastic show it was. Finally thank you Ciaran Milligan for the direction and the great script he provided. Thank you to everyone who supported the night and all of you who were in attendance.

* The Under12 Camogs were at home to Attical last Tuesday evening. The girls put on a great performance coming away with another good win. The coaching

* The Under 8 Camogs went Kilcoo last Saturday morning to the All-County Blitz. The young girls put up a really good show. Like all the other teams in attendance they played with great enthusiasm and character which will stand well to them. They won 3 out of 4 of their games. The coaches and parents in attendance well done to all of them.

* The Senior footballers lost out at home to Burren last Friday night by a three point margin. This was a disappointing defeat and a result that got away from us. Generally we did not play well. It was our first home defeat in near two years. The lads will know themselves that better performances are needed.

* There will be another order for club gear which will be sent to O’Neill’s in September 2014. There is a stock of club socks and shorts held in the club at present. Please contact Brian O’Neill if you wish to make an order for gear other that what is held in The Club.

* Sport NI are running a number of coaching courses in UUJ in the evenings from Sept 1st to 4th. If anyone is interested in attending please contact John O’Neill on 07711737610.

* There will be no coaching this Saturday July 26th. Coaching will resume on Saturday 02 August 2014. Parents should make sure to complete registration forms for their children if they haven’t already done so.

* Finally many club members were in attendance at the fabulous concert in the chapel last Sunday evening as part of the Soma Festival. There were fine performances from the group Culpa from South Armagh, Niamh Parsons and the main attraction the brilliant Cara Dillon and band members. It was a fantastic night and it was good to see so many members lending their support to this particular Soma Festival Event.

* This weeks lotto numbers were 5, 8, 13 & 24. There were no jackpot winners and two £20 winners; B McCavery & William Brannigan. Next Weeks Jackpot is £6950
