* The second Under 10 blitz was hosted by Liatroim on Saturday with Castlewellan playing against the hosts and Clonduff. We were able to field two teams and all the boys were able to play and show their skills. They won all their games and proved that the hard work in training is paying off. A feature of their play was the long striking from the hand backed up with good ground hurling. Thanks to the parents who came along to support the boys a number of whom had attended the football in Dundrum earlier in the day. Next training is on Thursday in the meadow at 6.15.
* Congratulations to the St Malachy’s PS hurling team who have qualified for the Down Féile final after winning the county blitz last week. The boys went through the tournament undefeated conceding just one point defeating St Joseph’s Carryduff in the final. A number of other young members performed well for St Mary’s Aughlisnafin PS in the same tournament. Well done boys and good luck to St Malachy’s in the county final which is due to be played on Friday night 20th April in St Malachy’s Park as part of the county Féile na nGael so come along and support our young hurlers.
* The Under 12 boys started the new season with some great performances in Kilcoo’s annual Gary Cunningham Memorial Tournament. They were beaten by Clonduff in the semi final. Having finished runners up in their group, they met an unbeaten Bryansford side and got off to a great start with two goals from Matthew Carville. Daniel Cunningham added two long range points and Matthew Carville was on target with two well worked points ensuring the lads qualified for the semi final where they met Clonduff. The Yellows were just too strong hence the lads just missed out on a final place. The team representing An Baile were: Mark Rice, Eoin Maginn, Niall Garland, Callum McKibben, Oisin O’Toole, Matthew Carville, Daniel Cunningham, Conor Robb, Dara Fitzpatrick, Ethan Aulds, Cleveland Boyle, Callum McCabe, Dara Tumilty, Tiernan Lawless.
* Our youngest footballer’s attended a football blitz in Dundrum on Saturday past. For some of the boys and girls it was their first game wearing the club jerseys and every child performed brilliantly. We fielded two Under 6 team’s and one under 8 team. All the children contested well and enjoyed the morning’s football. A big thank you to DunDroma CLG for the invitation and we will be returning the invitation sometime during the summer months. A big thank you also to all the parent’s who provided transport and came along to support the children. Your assistance and help are greatly appreciated. Thank you to all.
* Castlewellan hosted an Under 8 and Under 10 Camogie Blitz yesterday. A fantastic showing by the youngsters. Your Management were really proud of the effort you put in. This augurs well for the future in terms of attitude and commitment you have shown. Well done girls.

* Under 8 & Under 10 football training will be at 6.15 on Mondays in St Malachy’s Park.
*The Under 16 ladies got their season off to a flying start with a great win against Ben Dearg in Kilclief in somewhat wintery conditions. Highlight of the game was the performance of the stand-in referee our own Aidan ‘The Yeti’ Rodgers. I must apologise to all Yeti lovers out there if we have insulted any Yeti’s. Aidan you got to admit standing in the middle covered in snow – you looked like one! The next Under 16 game is away to Carryduff this Sunday. All girls should meet at the club. Transport will leaver at 11.00am sharp
