Sunday 28 June Weekly Notes

Last Wednesday saw the u16 ladies footballers return from their three week break to face Clonduff at home. In the first half the Town ladies dominated but there was only 6pts separating them at half time. The girls came out after half time determined not to let things slip – quick movement, speed and strength led the town u16s to win 8-11 to 2-7.

Great performances on Saturday morning by our U10’s at the football blitz in Saul GAC. Undefeated in their 3 games Games were against Downpatrick- Saul & Carryduff. Well done everyone. #UTT

Congratulations to Aislinn Hawkins and Emma Croskery part of the Assumption Grammar School Ballynahinch that Won Under 14A Ulster Championship beating Knock last week.

The U-8’s traveled to local neighbours Bryansford for another football blitz on Saturday past. Despite missing a few players due to holidays the boys and girls put in excellent displays in all matches. Some great team play, shot stopping and score taking was the highlight of the morning and it was clear that the hard work in training is paying off for these young ‘Townies!’

Turning onto the Castlewellan – Clough Road Sunday week ago the red light in the drivers car came on. A couple of hours earlier if his or any of his three cycling colleagues red lights had have came on they would have been in trouble. The four amigos Peter McKibben, Martin Keown, Martin McClean and Malachy McCay successfully completed the Gran Fondo. It was a tough and enjoyable day in the saddle for all four members. The route from and to Titanic Quarter was well adorned for the occasion. A highlight for the four lads was the number of family and club members there to greet them on their arrival at the Dundrinne Road, Drumbuck Road and out near Leitrim. It was a great day and it was great to see the locals cheering them on. It was a great lift and they truly appreciated it. Cycling has become a part of GAA club life again in other parts of the country keeping members who perhaps their Gaelic Games or other sporting disciplines days are over but want to remain an integral part of the club life. The number of club identities were evident on the Gran Fondo and their willingness to represent their club/counties. It was good to see it.

The 500 club draw tickets are on sale, with the first draw this Saturday night.  If you remember last year we sold out and had a waiting list, so get your ticket ASAP! There will also be a separate draw on the night for all ticket holders of the 500 Club Draw present. There will also be a free barbeque this and everyone is welcome with music by Tommy Fitzpatrick.

Lotto numbers were 17, 21, 23 and 26. No winners and jackpot next week is £9,400.
