Town Lose Out In Paudie O’ Se Final In Kerry At Weekend – Activ8 Starts 5 March 2015 – Sunday Lunches!

Hard luck on our senior footballers who were beaten in the final of the Paudie O’ Se invitational tournament in Kerry at the weekend. The only team from Ulster who were invited to this event, gave a good account of themselves, going down 1-7 to 2-9 in the final to the Irish Defence Forces. If you are familiar with The Gaeltacht then you will know that the pitch is right beside the Atlantic and I mean 10 yards away! It was wet weather here on Sunday – now imagine the gale blowing and the rain at that pitch. One official described Sunday for the final as the worst playing conditions he ever experienced. That is not Kerry’s fault – The Atlantic at its toughest! The Gaeltacht would experience that regularly where their pitch is. The lads had a good weekend and were well looked after. The hospitality of our hosts was much appreciated.

From Sunday the 1st Match the club will be doing Sunday lunches from 12.30 – 3.00. Chef Mario who for years had a cult following at his restaurant in Newcastle will be cooking. With a two-course meal at £10 and three course at £12 with children under fourteen £5 it is sure to be a winner. Come & watch the Ireland v England Rugby match and enjoy your lunch and craic….

The online membership is now live. Its so simple to use and all those that have used it (young and not so young) and registered have been complimentary towards it. We would encourage all members to avail of the facility ASAP. See club website for details.
