On Saturday night past we held our Annual Awards evening in the Social Club. This is the fiftieth successive year where we have held the award evenings and while much has changed in that half century there is still something special about occasions like these. This year our special guest was Down and Saval’s Danny Hughes whose honesty and humour held the packed hall captivated. We celebrated the success of our senior ladies in Football and Camogie and handed out individual honours across all codes. With Castlewellan contributing so much to both Camogie and Ladies football All-Ireland success there was special awards given those ladies who were involved and represented our club so well. We are rightly proud of their achievements. This year’s recipient of the Club Hall of Fame Award is Liam Sloan. Liam has been a wonderful servant to our club and was a most popular recipient. The arrival on stage with the Johnny O’Neill Trophy and his New York based daughter Aveen almost brought the house down. This was a wonderful and unexpected surprise as well as a highly emotional moment. A fantastic video production was compiled by Kevan Owens revisited the clubs history. Many thanks must go to the organising committee but in particular to Kevan Ciaran and Moira for their work and preparation for our Awards Night.

It’s that time of year again where we ask all our playing and social members to register. Over the past few months the committee have been working to put in place a new system where all registration can be completed on-line from our club web site. This has been created to make it so much easier to register as a club member. All different categories of membership are catered for including various payment options. Parents can register their children on-line also. Please avail off this new system when it goes live in the next week or so….
Our club lotto is over £8K. The easiest way to play is on-line, from your living room, from work or where ever. Encourage others to play our lotto and by doing so your are supporting our developments…
